Some things some actors just won't do

Gunplay

I really like Patrick Mcnee, and I really like this article about him.

“Macnee insisted on, and was proud of, almost never carrying a gun in the original series; when asked why, he explained, ‘I’d just come out of a World War in which I’d seen most of my friends blown to bits.’ Lumley later said she did most of the gun-slinging in The New Avengers for the same reason.[14]”

There is an American actor, whose name I may recall later, who also takes the same stand, for the same reason.

You’d never guess it from his film career, but Jimmy Stewart finished World War II as a two-star general (Same as Patton) in the air force; having flown MANY combat missions.

Kissing

Patrick McGoohan

As to Secret Agent: “McGoohan insisted on several conditions: all the fistfights should be different; the character would always use his brain before using a gun; and — much to the executives’ horror — no kissing.”

*

“McGoohan was one of several actors considered for the role of James Bond in Dr. No. … McGoohan, a Catholic, refused the role on moral grounds.”

*

“McGoohan married actress Joan Drummond on May 19, 1951. They had three children including Catherine McGoohan.[51] McGoohan ‘would not act any part in which he had to kiss any actress who was not his wife (and she, looking after him and their small sons, had little time for acting)’,[19] which somewhat restricted his choices.”

Bing: Actors who refuse to kiss

George Clooney says he’s no longer ‘kissing girls’ in movies: ‘When I turned 60 I had a conversation with my wife’ https://www.msn.com/.../george-clooney-says.../ar-AA1SlgEF
