Project Stargate, the Ark of the Covenant, and the Alien Bases on the Moon

Project Stargate was an effort by the Army and the CIA to find out whether "remote viewing," a clairvoyant activity, could produce results useful for intelligence.

The central figures included Ingo Swann, Harold E. Puthoff, and Joseph McMoneagle. Ed Dames has made a career of portraying himself as having been a central figure also, but the Wikipedia article portrays him as having largely been a bystander. He makes money these days by purporting to teach others how to do "remote viewing" for themselves.

The more woo-woo claims in the following articles are all reported by one and the same author, Stacy Liberatore of the UK tabloid Daily Mail.

The Wikipedia article about Ingo Swann says he was purportedly clairvoyant.  It does not tell whatever he ever did to support himself.  But I am unaware of any EVIDENCE of Swann’s clairvoyance before he got recruited into the project.

A test he was given once involved him sitting in a room with an 11-foot ceiling.  A shelf was suspended from the ceiling, hanging over his head.  Three objects were put on the shelf.  His task was to identify the objects.  The article is not clear as to whether or not he did.

At some point, he made the report to a lot of powerful people, that he had clairvoyantly visited the far side of the moon, and saw there massive bases that aliens had built.  There were many domed buildings, and tall towers with artificial lighting.  These aliens had hostile intentions toward humanity.

In the years since, satellites orbiting the moon have thoroughly surveyed and mapped the far side.  It is as thoroughly mapped as the near side.  There are no alien bases there.

Ed Dames claims that, as part of his participation in the project, he clairvoyantly found the Ark of the Covenant; it’s inside the Cave of the Patriarchs, which is now a massive complex in Hebron.  Tradition says the Cave holds the remains of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and their wives.  It is not clear to me when he claims to have had this vision.

This may or may not line up with the report of someone who participated in Project Stargate, who may or may not have been Dames.  This person is known as Viewer No. 32.  On December 5, 1988, this individual reported, in his exercise of remote viewing, having percveived as follows:

“Target is a container. This container has another container inside of it. The target is fashioned of wood, gold and silver… similar in shape to a coffin and is decorated with seraphim.

“Visuals of surrounding buildings indicated the presence of Mosque domes,” they said, adding that Arabic-speaking men, dressed in all white, populated the area.

“The target is hidden — underground, dark and wet were all aspects of the location of the target,” they continued.

“The purpose of the target is to bring a people together. It has something to do with ceremony, memory, homage, the resurrection. There is an aspect of spirituality, information, lessons and the historical knowledge far beyond what we now know.”

Remote viewer No. 32 then expounded on the more mysterious aspects of what they saw.

“The target is protected by entities and can only be opened by those who are authorized to do so — this container will not/cannot be opened until the time is deemed correct. Once it is time to open the container — the mechanics of the lock system will be found to be fairly simple,” they said before adding a warning to potential plunderers.

“Individuals opening the container by prying or striking are destroyed by the container’s prectors through the use of a power unknown to us.”

Well, that may or may not be the Ark, and it may or may not be the Cave of the Patriarchs.  Or, as the Ethiopian Orthodox claim, the Ark may be hidden instead at the Church of St. Mary of Zion, in Aksum.

IT IS BEYOND ME WHY ANY PARTICIPANT IN PROJECT STARGATE WOULD HAVE BEEN ASKED TO LOCATE THE ARK.  We can’t even be sure it even exists.

Project Stargate eventually got shut down, because the Army and CIA did not see that the results being obtained were any better than randomness.  There can be many different critiques of exactly how and why it failed.  At this moment, it appears to me that the problem began at the very beginning; that they had the wrong people in charge.  The parapsychologists working at the Stanford Research Institute, no matter how high-sounding that name, all believed themselves, without evidence, to be psychics. A number of them were high-ranking Scientologists, and the only real evidence of their being psychic was that Scientology told them so.   Their credulity was their downfall.
